ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kicheko is originally from Detroit Michigan. In 1981 She graduated from Cass Technical High School with a major in Jewelry Arts. Later that year, she arrived in California to attend the Gemological Institute of America, located in Santa Monica. She completed the Jewelry Arts Program and graduated in 1982. In 2002 she graduated from California State University, Los Angeles with a Bachelor's degree in Art. Kicheko has worked with multiple mediums. One being clay, wherein, she has a series of ceramic female figures called “Sisters of the Clay” each figure represents a different role women play in society. i.e. mother, sister, lover, caretaker. However, her oil paintings having a strong Afrocentric flavor are a major part of her body of work. The goal is to reach the viewer in a way the Artwork Enhances, Inspires, and or Enriches the viewer’s life. The common theme in all of her Artwork is that each is truly an “Expressions of Beauty.”
